The Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute (LHPAI) and Seattle Parks and Recreation nowadays the Teen Summer Musical (TSM) extravaganza, Snowfall White and the Vii: "Each I, Teach Ane," featuring fourscore youth ranging from 7-18 years sometime, Aug. xx -23 at the Seattle Repertory Theatre (155 Mercer St, Seattle, WA 98109). Tickets are $8 for youth (12 and under) and $ten for adults.

Seattle Parks and Recreations' Citywide Teen/Young Adult Programs is committed to impacting the life trajectories of the young people it serves by enhancing the experience they have with recreation programs and related opportunities. Each teen between the ages of 13-xviii years former participating in the Teen Summer Musical will receive a stipend of $599 from Seattle Parks and Recreation'southward Youth Career Training Programme (YCTP) under its Artist-in-Residence preparation program. 2015 Spring Bearing Witness Showcase - small 2 Seattle Parks and Recreation in partnership with the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Plant invite the community to the "Bearing Witness" showcase featuring performances past LGBTQ youth of Colour and their friends, on Wednesday, June 10 at 7 p.m., (doors open at 6:45 p.m.). Langston Hughes Performing Fine art Institute is located at 104 17th Ave. S at E Yesler Manner in Seattle. Attendance is free, and the show is virtually xc minutes.

The showcase will feature performances by local Queer Youth of Color and Allies sharing their stories and exploring their art, creating infinite and opening a door for give-and-take and sensation in the community. Bearing Witness performance december 2014Seattle Parks and Recreation in partnership with the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Plant invite the community to the "Begetting Witness" showcase featuring performances past LGBTQ youth of color and their friends, on Wednesday, December. 17 at 7 p.m., (doors open up at half-dozen:45 p.k.). Langston Hughes Performing Art Constitute is located at 104 17th Ave. Due south at E Yesler Way in Seattle. Omnipresence is free, and the show is about 90 minutes in length.

The mentor showcase features performances from and an introduction to the mentoring team.

Seattle Parks and Recreation, in partnership with Langston Hughes Performing Arts Constitute, presents "Bearing Witness," a queer youth of colour performing arts showcase at 7 p.grand. on Wed, June 18.

Local queer youth of color and their allies volition share their stories and fine art every bit a means of opening the door of awareness and joy in the community.

Last bound Seattle Parks and Langston Hughes launched the Seattle Quare Arts Projection. The word "quare" means excellence and identifies exceptional and remarkable experiences and individuals. The Seattle Quare Arts Projection encourages LGBTQ youth of colour to exist the best persons they can be. Seattle Parks and Recreation, Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute (LHPAI) and the Pride Foundation present a free performance of "Bearing Witness," a Queer Youth of Color Performance Arts Showcase, at 7 p.k. Thursday, June 27 at LHPAI, 104 17th Ave. at Yesler Way. Doors open up at 6:45 p.yard.

The evening includes performances by Donte, Raven, Theo, si dåko'ta, Dani Long and Chad Goller-Sojourner.

Donte Johnson is a poet and teacher who has worked and performed in many places in and out of Seattle. He is a dedicated member of YouthSpeaks Seattle, and was on the 2012 slam squad. He recently released a chapbook titled "Steps to the Throne."

Raven Taylor is a performance poet who recently released a chapbook titled "Atelophobia." She is the Wing ane Coordinator at Queer Youth Space and a member of YouthSpeaks Seattle. She was on both the 2011 and the 2012 slam teams.

Theo Garcia is a poet, a teacher, and most important, a poet. He has been a member of YouthSpeaks Seattle for many years, and has taught poetry in many places.

Dani Long serves as a artistic mentor for the "Begetting Witness" program. He is a Detroit born dance artist, who has toured nationally with VEE Corporation and taught throughout Detroit and Seattle. While in Detroit, Dani has danced with Jazz and Spirit dance Theater of Detroit, Monroe Ballet Company, Detroit-Windsor Dance Company and Full Circle Trip the light fantastic toe Company. He is the Founder/Artistic Director of Natural Locz Dance Visitor (Detroit, MI) and Colour Lines Dance Ensemble (Seattle, WA). Dani is currently on staff with Northwest Tap Connectedness and Dash Heart for the Arts.

Chad Goller-Sojourner serves as a creative mentor for the "Begetting Witness" programme. He is a Seattle-based author, storyteller, solo performer and recipient of a distinguished Washington State Arts Commission Performing Arts Fellowship. Well-nigh recently he served equally the 2013 Ohio University Glidden Visiting Professor. Chad is the author of "Sitting in Circles with Rich White Girls: Memoirs of a Bulimic Black Boy," and "Riding in Cars with Blackness People and Other Newly Dangerous Acts: A Memoir in Vanishing Whiteness."
